About Khan & Kumar

Khan & Kumar Media is an award winning independent film production company based in Mumbai. In partnership with New York-based Ammi Media, we strive to support emerging film makers who are passionate about bringing extraordinary stories to a global audience. 

We are proud of the incredibly talented filmmakers we have had the privilege to support.  Our first feature film, Songs of Forgotten Trees, directed by Anuparna Roy, won the Best Director award at the Venice Film Festival (Orrizonti Section) in 2025, the first for an Indian Director.

Our debut production, Sonsi (Shadow Bird), directed by Savita Singh, qualified for Oscars 2022 after winning Best Film at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival and also won the National Award for Best Cinematography (Non Fiction). 

About Ammi Media

Based in New York City, Ammi Media is an indie film financing and development company founded by tech entrepreneur Sharib Khan. In partnership with Khan & Kumar, Ammi Media has financed more than 15 films made by filmmakers in the United States and India. The company aims to support films that would make all our mothers proud and (almost) all our projects have a woman filmmaker as a key creative talent ('ammi' is an urdu word for mother).
